Pat and Kris
caligula, that's all very impressive and those are definitely some great names, legends actually, to be associated with. They're also all my age or much older. Please name the most recent hit, including year, from each of them.
I don't think the majority here are saying they have anything against Pat Monahan as a songwriter or even as a singer on his and Train's own releases. I'm a fan of much of his work. We are discussing this particular version of 'The Truth' and how it sounds. I don't need to repeat what has been said so many times about the sound and engineering of the song. It's not cohesive and it sounds quite simply 'cut and paste'.
If there is some contractual obligation to have Pat Monahan singing on this, it should have been on the original and Kris and Pat SHOULD have recorded it together. I could probably tolerate both Kris and Pat singing the bridge together. Removing the dynamic and the emotional build does not work.

I have not the time nor desire to look up the years and dates of every collaboration Pat has worked on in his career. I will tell you that Bon Jovi, John Mayer, Rob Thomas, Darius Rucker ( Hootie and the Blowfish) ... I forgot to mention Brandon Bush ( formally with Train and now with Sugarland) and Uncle Kracker and well Pat Monahan have all charted this year... I know not much of a retort but I would say you got served. I might be so brasen as to say that the Santana thing is recorded and I believe is being released by August ( you might remember a little Rob Thomas collaboration that worked well with Santana a few years back if you are around my age). I also understand that Pat is opening Giant Stadium with BonJovi at the end of May... and touring with John Mayer on the Summer tour... the rest of the artist interactions are a matter of record... you can look it up... believe me you will find that EVERYTHING I claim is "the TRUTH". There is no contractual obligation for Pat and Kris to work together as far as I know but I have made no claim to knowing anything with regard to the business end of what they do. I agree to some extent that the song may need to be reworked before being released, however, you should understand that Pat co-wrote this song for Kris at his behest. I haven't heard much talk about that either... with the exception of the post crying about the fact that Kris was being short changed by having to put up with the Script writing " LLWWD" and Pat singing ON the Truth... I know KA fans are not obtuse... I just get fed up when two talented artists that have great fan bases can seek each other out yet their fans find it difficult to make an effort to
constructively support one another and the artists they love...Peace!!

I have done some research and asked around. Youi guys aren't going to believe the other bands that Pat Monahan has duped into allowing him to ruin them. These guys must be idiots...At their request...( must be some kind of mind control because there is no way these guys could know as much about music as you do)... Pat Monahan has played with or written songs for the Doors, Stevie Wonder, Aerosmith, Carlos Santana, Cyndi Lauper, Rob Thomas, Sheryl Crow, the counting crows, Collective Soul, Better than Ezra, Hootie and the Blow Fish, Bon Jovi, the Hollies ( this years rock and rolll hall of fame induction.. you would think they would know better), Scott Weiland, Tina Turner and it gets worse.. he has written lead songs for a ton of movie sound tracks... three current prime time television programs and a myriad of commercials.. Hey Soul Sister is ( you won't believe this..) being featured on 2 t.v. commercials that are running concurrently as we speak... It is the #1 most spun song in Australian radio history and the second most downloaded song in Columbia records history. He also did a remake of "Only You" for CBS at their request. Apparently, he ( get this ) had a top 10 hot AC hit on his solo project that he did for shts and giggles as well... Just reading about how many of his songs have charted in the top 10 on Hot AC will make you a little sick your stomach ( I know I had that reaction) I say we all get together and put and end to this upstarts career before any of this rubs off on Kris... Who is with me?
