How many of you have been moved and touched by Kris and his music?

I was thrilled when a couple of my questions were answered during a THV interview with Kim and Neil Allen that aired prior to the Little Rock concert. One of my questions was about favorite charities/causes. Kim was very gracious and let us know that Kris and Katy want to eventually start their own foundation. Then she revealed that Kris now has a Scholarship Fund at The University of Central Arkansas and she let us know that another cause near and dear to Kris' heart is Chi Alpha Ministries. (You may recall that the chapter that Kris was involved with was the one at UCA.)

I'm sure I am not the only Kris fan who has been moved enough to want to do something for others and somehow give back to Kris, so I gathered information for any of you who might also want to contribute. (I personally think that Kris fans are totally amazing and Kick Awesome people, by the way, and the best fans around!)
I hope all of us Kris fans are as generous as we are supportive!

6. Most of you know that on 27 Oct 2010, Kris had a benefit and benefit concert for The Blackbird Academy of Arts in Conway, AR. Music Empowers Foundation matched the funds raised up to $50,000.00, which means that $100,000.00 was raised to provide music & arts education to children who otherwise would have nothing. The funds will also be used to provide Scholarships to children at the Academy.

7. Kris has been working with the UN Foundation and many of you know he visited Haiti. Hopefully you were able to see his heartwrenching performance of Let It Be on American Idol with the video footage of his trip. http://www.unfoundation.org/

You may know that Katy hosted a charity benefit and subsequent charity auction and clothing sale last May & June. These were to benefit local Arkansan charities that support victims of domestic violence including Women and Children First (www.wcfarkansas.org) and Dorcas House (www.urmission.org/ministries/dorcas-house).

Important Note for online donations: In the text section of the page, click on the purple writing "giving online". The first section you will fill out is the basic personal information. The next section is entitled "Donation Information". If you cannot donate the amounts listed, you are totally welcome to select "Other amount" and enter the amount you wish to donate. The next item of "Designation" has a drop down box, so click on that and select "General Scholarships". Following the payment information, in the box for "Comments", type in "designate to The Kris Allen Scholarship Fund". This is Very Important as this is how the UCA Foundation knows which scholarship is to receive the donation.

Once the scholarship fund is fully funded, it will be listed on the website in the Scholarships section. In the meantime, I spoke to Mr. Bart Shaw at the UCA Foundation and as long as the donation is designated for the Kris Allen Scholarship Fund, there is no question that it will go to the right place.
