By now all of you are familiar with Kris’ song “The Truth”, from his debut album. Its already a classic, but its about to get even better. Streaming on the site right now (in the top right hand corner) is a brand new version of the song featuring none other than Pat Monahan from Train.

I think "bring it back" is the best song on the CD and would get some serious play on the radio.
Hey, finally I listen your new version song, Kris! I like it but anyway I love your original album version, the truth is one of my favorite songs in your album... it has catchy lyrics and easy to listen but I find another side in your new version, it's harder and I like you sing it by your self than featuring...but anyway I will always support you. I know it's a brilliant project in your career and i hope I can watch the official video immediately... Good luck my idol!

I think The Truth was better left alone. It just seems off balance.....
There was a lot more negativity when LLWD came out and the Script youtube was unearthed. We know how that turned out with a platinum and then some song that is on the radio constantly. TTV2 can't possibly have as much negativity as that. Kris will do fine. I actually love the harmonies.
Just want to echo Cinn that it would be nice to have an official post about "The Truth" being Kris's new single. Maybe you could include some of the stuff that Adam Lambert has mentioned re: his new single on twitter - request it from local stations, but only once a day so as not to spam them, etc.
While I do love Kris's voice so much better on the bridge than Pat's, it's still a good song and I do like some of the changes you made in the edit. I'm glad to see that it's already gotten six adds today (hopefully 'and counting'), with many more to come, I'm sure.
Still would love clarification on your strategy, but I understand that you may be unsure of it yourself. Perhaps some of you are interns and this is your first project? I will do my best to be patient, of course, though I'm dying to know what your plan to continue to sell Kris as an artist is.
On that note - sexy sells. Just something to consider. You're starting in the right direction - the cover for the single is moody and Kris looks hot, so that's great. Maybe see if there's any way you can get a photoshoot for him? Adam does a lot of those and they get him in the public eye more. If Kris is uncomfortable, maybe consider having him do a photoshoot with someone he's comfortable with, like Allison or Adam.
Anyway, just some random thoughts. I'll drop by again tomorrow in hopes of more updates from you guys!

Now that we know this is official, It would be nice to see a post telling people the decision has been made and that people can begin requesting it on the radio.

I think this is a terrible idea!! Already I am reading from music critics and Internet bloggers how Pat has to help Kris out. One Sirrus radio station guy tweeted and said on his show that Kris is failing and the brought in Pat to hold him up by his jock strap. The perception is Kris can't do it on his own because of his poor CD sales!! I am so disheartened by this idea. I for one am not going to buy it. Instead I will make my statement and buy Kris' orginal Truth!! All the bloggers are going to give Pat all the credit if the song does well. Why didn't they just keep the original. All they did was have Pat sing and then edit it in. Plus the gave Pat the meat of it and made Kris basically into a back up singer!! I'm fuming!!

I have to say that I am extremely excited for Kris and for the possibilities of this song on radio. Power ballads tend to do well, and Kris pours himself into the melody so that it sounds both beautiful and heart wrenching. We've always known that The Truth was one of the more popular tracks, at least initially, from his album, and it is lovely. When I first listened, I admit to being confused and annoyed by Pat's solo appearance at the bridge, but I have to say that now after several listens I'm impressed with this version. Regardless of the lyrics, it's very reminiscent of Train and the melody sounds tighter and more feeling and urgent than on the album, and of course, Kris sounds amazing (albeit, perhaps he's not usually this bombastic!).
While I had hoped for Alright With Me--and still do hope that it will be a single at some point--I think that this collaboration is smart and will do really well. And despite all our griping and grumbling, I know that we'll support this song 100%. And we all want Kris to go far, be respected and successful... hang in there Kris fans and let's convert a few more while we're at it! I feel very Zen and ready to support the song, so let's do this!!!

Wow, Jive/19 REALLY needs to get it together and start actually supporting Kris. Pat Monahan who? I had to rack my brain before remembering he's the Train singer. Seriously, how do they not release Alright With Me? As soon as I heard it on the Ford commercials, I figured it would be the next single. But this hot mess? C'mon. It's almost like they are still bitter Adam Lambert didn't win and they want to lampoon an extremely talented Kris Allen, who by the way DID win American Idol. It's a shame JIVE/19 can't get it through their heads that Kris won for a reason. Time to get behind the kid.
Can't wait to see emo Kris again singing this on AI Finale. Hope they'll give a lot of close up shots ala Aint No Sunshine performance last Finale. Love the LIVE versions thus far.
Although I will personally miss Kris singing the bridge I support him and the new single 100%. The Truth is a great song and I'm excited about hearing it on the radio and seeing the music video.

Kris announced that his new single is The Truth on a Denver radio station today so it's confirmed! YAY! Now hopefully people can move on and support it
I don't dislike the song "The Truth" actually it's about my third favorite. The song that stood out to me when I first listened to the album was "Alright With Me" This is just a feel good song & I think people of all ages will like it. I'm 54 by the way so I'm not a teenager saying this. I wish you had enough faith in Kris to release this as the next single as he had to deal with so much contraversy on the first one, the whole "Covergate" thing. Now he'll have to deal with he wasn't good enough to carry the song on his own. If it had been on the album this way it would be a totally different story. Kris if you like the new version & want it released then let your fans know so we can start backing it on radio etc. I so wanted you to perform "Alright With Me" on the Idol finale so Simon could see you are anything but boring. Hope whatever your label decides it will work out for you. I want to hear you on the radio for years to come.

Caligula, as others have said, that ecard is not "official". That was sent from a DJ to a fan and thus circulated around the internet. I'm not saying that The Truth isn't the second single (and I'm personally fine if it is) but an "official" announcement would come from Kris himself (via Twitter) or the label/management company via a press release. Neither has happened so nothing has been confirmed. In fact, another DJ yesterday mentioned that the label still hadn't made the decision so therefore it appears that there may be a discrepancy.
With that said, I'm happy to support whatever song is selected.
caligula, those articles are all derived from the same e-card that someone found in a random Sony folder. An e-card that already existed before they released this terrible remix to the public. Jive probably did not expect such an overwhelmingly negative response to the song, so the plans may be changing. That is what we're all hoping for. We have to support Kris and his music and unanimously condemn this single choice over and over, so that Kris has a shot at a career as a pop star and not just a one hit wonder and supporting act. It's not too late. It's not yet official. We have to save Kris from The Truth.
I'm obviously still going to support Kris. That's never a question. I just don't get it. Why bring him in just to sing the bridge? It's jarring, especially since you can't really hear the harmonies during the chorus anyway. Maybe if they truly had them singing equally in the chorus it would make more sense? IDK, I still love the song and the album, it's just a weird decision that seems like it was made by executives and managers and not Kris himself.

I'm a Kris fan so I will like the "new Truth", BUT a better choice would have been "Alright With Me" or "Before We Come Undone" or "Written All Over My Face"! LLWD's video did really well on VH1. I can't picture what a video of "The Truth" with Kris & Pat would look like!!! I don't know what the record company is thinking making this song a duet with another MAN!!
I have seen some of the tour schedule, but haven't seen any stops in Dallas/Fort Worth or Texas at all!! There are a lot of fans here in Texas!

After the song played they talked about Kris (your American Idol, how they just got the song, etc.) and Pat for a bit, saying it was a duet and that people might recognize a familiar voice even though it isn't much different from Kris, and then the dj "said something like "it is our very own Pat Monahan" (he is from San Fran and Seattle).
They never said it was the single as I recall, only that they just got the song. I know all indication say this is a done deal, but has the single announcement been made official by anyone in charge - like Jive or 19? Kris hasn't said anything on twitter. Still waiting for press release or something like that. Has anyone seen that?

It could be the biggest hit in the land - I won't be bullied into being a "good" fan. Stop it. It's condescending and pointless and if I want to be negative I will be negative. Disliking the decision, disliking the song, or the way Jive/KO has behaved does not mean I'm not going to support Kris. Please check yourself.

I just heard "The Truth" ft. Pat Monahan on Alice 97.3. After the song, they talked about Kris and Pat a little bit!
Releasing The Truth as a new version with Pat Monahan is a good thing for Kris. Lots of singers are doing this now, joining up with other singers to pull in more listeners and promote themselves and the song more. To be entirely honest, this isn't a very strong song off his CD to begin with. But, if this is the song that is being released, then this is the way to do it. Put another name there with him people know, and his base will hopefully grow and become stronger because of it. This will help Kris. I truly don't see a way it could hurt him.
No negativity here, I just want some sort of official announcement so the fans can move on and start supporting the song. I don't think that is too much to ask

Get behind your boy or get out of his way because he has somewhere to be and you cry babies are in his way. This song has gone to adds and if it doesn't do well it will be because his fans aren't willing to support him. He will pull millions of Train fans in addition to his fan base with this song... so it's time to stop whining and start supporting him... if this song does even reasonably well Kris will get a shot at releasing a third song from this cd... so stop with the negativity and help him make this a hit.
Is there anything as fans that we can do to stop this? I really really wanted Alright with Me to be the next single, I think that song would have been huge. It would go down in history as a pop/rock classic, everyone would remember it. It's fun, he sounds great and people could so dance to it. The music video would be awesome, if it were a beach setting with dancing and Kris playing his acoustic guitar. I do love The Truth, but with only Kris on it. I know Jive knows that none of us already have this version, so not only will people that don't own the CD buy it, but the ones who do own the CD will have to buy it too. That is smart for sales, but not for his career. Alright with me is Kris' golden song. I mean if they want to follow in the footsteps of Train's success then they would need to release an upbeat,fun song like Hey,soul sister. And Alright with me would be the best choice. I don't want Jive to screw Kris the way they've screwed the Backstreet Boys. The BSB have a lot of great songs on their new album, but guess what, they are not being released. Fans I think we need to pull together to stop this. And if we are unable to stop this, then we need to support Kris 100%. If non-Kris fans see that he can't get support from his fans, then they are surely not going to jump on Kris' band wagon. Also, if anyone from Kris' camp is reading this, can we please get a response to all this drama? Can everyone also post their thoughts on his facebook page? We MUST get this message across! Well, we're so close to 650 comments, that I just have to add one more. Like most everyone here, I'm fine with all the radio edits--including Pat's harmony on the chorus. I do love Pat. But save the bridge. Save the bridge for Kris. It just works better for so many reasons. And all have been stated here. (Not the least of which, as Jim Cantiello suggested, it doesn't appear Kris and Pat are in a relationship--much less breaking up.)
Well, I love Kris so I hope this does well. But if both the original version and the radio edit are available on itunes, I'll be buying the original version because I prefer it. The radio edit is fine in everything but the bridge. Hopefully casual fans won't notice or will actually like it.
I feel like Jive and KO are playing a game of chicken with the fans now, trying to see who will blink first - and the fans have already started blinking.
I'll say this again, change the bridge, fix it or release another song. In fact, just release another song - one that he has a co-write on. AWM, BWCU, CSA - all fine choices. Above all else, regardless of what you do, address the fans. We deserve better than this silent treatment. The longer you keep silent the worse this is gonna get.
I would prefer to have the version that is on Kris's album but will support him with whatever song is released.

Oh, that would be awesome, "From The Ashes" and "Send Me All Your Angels" are killer!! And I am dying to hear "Top of the World"! I'd also love an acoustic version of "The Truth" and while were at it, please include "Is It Over" done live on there, because that song is meant to be a jam, just like it is done live with the band or acoustic style with Kris and Cale.
Haha, I am picturing a male duet CD, Pat and Kris for "The Truth" (and throw in acoustic "The Truth" with Cale or Andrew), SMAYA with Daughtry, "Alright With Me" with Joe King of the Fray, "Is It Over" with Cale, "Boys of Summer" with Keith Urban (or perhaps something new that they can write together), "Top of the World" with Mat Kearney, and "From the Ashes" with....um...IDEK, someone help me with that one... feeling the need to comment again............i don't like that the bridge is sung by Pat because i prefer Kris's version. The shorter version is good though. Although I'm disappointed, i'll support Kris.
The Truth is a beautiful song but i would have prefer "send me all your angels" or "alright with me" or 'before we come undone" as a 2nd single.
Also the idea of another guy singing a break up song with Kris is just overall not a good idea
I don't think the new version of the song adds anything, really. And besides, if a new single is supposed to promote cd sales, then WHY release a song that ISN'T on the cd?? just a thought. I'm sure others have said similar things (didn't feel like reading all 600+ comments lol). But yeah, the original version is better. I love Pat Monahan, I love train, but no one wants to hear a song that sounds like Kris breaking up with his boyfriend lol
I doubt anyone important will ever actually read the comment but yeah, I thought I'd support everyone who likes the original song better.. I love this song and my favorite part was the bridge so I was disappointed that in this version it's sung by Pat!
Honestly I think the label's just doing this to get press and it's not giving Kris enough credit.. If they've checked the feedback at all they'd know everyone thinks the original is much better!
If there's a music video they better use the original version...
Anyway it's still a great song and I'm still glad they picked it, I just think it's more of a "if it ain't broke don't fix it" sort of thing.
So, TT is Kris's next single. I am not happy about it but will support Kris any way I can. The best thing fans can do is support his single by buying it and requesting it from your local radio stations. You can also keep reccomending friends & family buy his single and album or gift it to them.
Note to Jive
Since the new version of TT is not on Kris's album, please release an EP version of Kris Allen with the new TT and other selected tracks. Also, add the following bonus tracks "Top of the World" Matt Kearney co-write, Send Me All Your Angels and From The Ashes. You will make a killing in $ale$.
Loved the picture and the fact that Kris, Alison, & David are celebrating Alison's birthday together, but this post on the 27th is pretty much a slap in the face to all of the fans who have commented on this thread. Read on another site someone's opinion that Jive/Sony streamed TT here so that his fans could go through the stages of grief and come to the acceptance stage before it was actually released, which appears to have happened. Since Jive/Sony have no intention of listening to us or changing their decision, that was probably a smart move. I have accepted it, but I don't like to be used or deceived and my anger continues at Jive and Sony for not responding to the fans - even if it is just a paragraph explaining their decision and saying, "trust us." Huge public relations fail.
Kris Allen, your fans will support you no matter what.
Obviously your fans love the original, but still glad you got work with other artists such as Pat Monahan regardless. Pat if you end up reading this, no hate from me, I promise.
Adding my voice to the many others who are hoping this website will be better updated & maintained post haste. Kris fans (and there are many passionate and caring ones) basically hang out on Twitter & other fan-run websites because this site is the last place that ever has current news/photos/videos. For instance, the "Boys of Summer" duet with Keith Urban has been circulating the web like crazy since the guys performed it, but is it here? Of course not. Regular (as in daily, not bi-monthly) PR tweets would be fantastic, too. Honestly, fans have to search other artists' websites, venue websites, stalk facebook, etc. to find out concert & other appearance dates. So please, someone needs to attend this site & make it a useful site for fans.
Oh, and oblig: WHEN IS THE SECOND SINGLE GOING TO BE ANNOUNCED?

Yeah, no thanks if this is the new single. I still hope that Jive will change its mind and stop making reckless decisions. I don't understand how this was chosen over "Alright With Me". That song has been selling like hot cakes with just a 4 second preview of the song on the Ford commercials. Imagine how well it would sell if it started playing on the radio...this could have been a HUGE summer hit. It's pretty upsetting how this opportunity was wasted. "Alright With Me" was already being promoted by the Ford commercial, this should have been taken advantage of.
Furthermore, adding Pat's name on "The Truth" won't get this song anywhere. It doesn't matter if "Hey, Soul Sister" is a hit right now, it won't have an affect on how well this song is going to do/sell. Take a good look at "Telephone"...that song was by Lady Gaga FEATURING Beyonce, the two biggest female artists right now, yet it wasn't that huge of a hit.
Overall, there is still time to change this decision since the song hasn't been released on the radio yet...you guys already made a bad decision with the second single being released this late. Don't make another one by officially releasing this mess.
Well its a Kris Allen song so it rocks!!! Simply because whatever he sings, always sounds awesome (live or in studio). After listening to the edited version of "the Truth" it kinda sounds like Pat is singing to Kris at the bridge which makes it extremely weird. This song show's off Kris's vocal ability the best on the album, which is why I always wanted it released as a single... as previously said, probably not as the 2nd single. I'm still quietly optimistic, its not the best version of IMO "a truly great song", but its not a complete disaster. Having Pat Monahan sing the bridge of a Kris Allen song is kinda like having Chad Kroeger sing the bridge to a Daughtry song, "it makes no sense". In the end however, the collaboration may bring more fans aboard, so fingers crossed.
PS. Pat surprises me with his vocals "not bad at all, but its not Kris of course".
Thanks CLARA for your help! I finally got to listen to the new version of "The Truth" with Pat Monahan and I sadly agree that the original version is much better! I don't know what JIVE is thinking, but obviously they're not supporting Kris the way he deserves to be supported! The decisions JIVE has made have certainly not been in Kris's best interests! They really dropped the ball in waiting so long to release the second single, unlike RCA, who has certainly released more than one for Adam Lambert. I am so disappointed in the way Kris has gotten treated by JIVE, American Idol judges, host, and the media, who fail to give him the credit he deserves. They apparently prefer the freaks that make the headlines over a genuine musician/singer/songwiter. In my opinion, Kris is the most charismatic contestant to date on American Idol because he is so real and relatable. As someone who has been thrust into the spotlight, I am constantly in awe of Kris's amazing ability to rise to any occasion or challenge that is presented to him. When I worry that the cutthroat music business will swallow him up, he stays true to himself and his music and continually surprises me with his amazing performances! I am 100% behind you Kris and will continue to support your career, despite the questionable decisions made by JIVE.

Please have someone update this site more regularly!!! It would be nice to have DAILY UPDATES, tell us who is interviewing him, what radio stations he is going to be on, what magazines he is going to appear in, include international press, tell us what happened at his show last night, where he is going to be performing today, what trip is he going to take next! There are endless amounts of things that would interest us fan, but we get practically nothing!!! I update my fan site almost everyday and I do it for free!
There is always tons of Kris news out there, news articles, videos and updates on concerts, etc. that could be discussed. This website is the first thing many people see and it needs to reflect a busy hub that parallels with what Kris is actually doing. He is all over the world being amazing and it would be nice to see that portrayed here in an official capacity. Anytime you post something, Kris fans say thank you and are so happy to see it, we are taking the nice approach, but I am sick of being nicey-nicey when I know most of us are screaming inside, get your acts together and PLEASE make this a vibrant hub of Kris-central!!
I think a lot of the frustration I see here is just that this move by 19/Jive is just the final straw that we,as fans of Kris, have had to endure. He and his fans have not been respected from the time he was named the winner of Season 8 by the media or American Idol the show that he won. We should have at least expected that the people in charge of managing his career would see that he was taken care of and treated like the amazing talent that he is. Kris has had few opportunities to showcase his talent to a wider audience and the promotion for his album has been pretty minimal especially when compared to others. My hope is that Kris can get away from the management team at 19 as soon as possible since it is becoming increasingly apparent that they have an obvious conflict of interest.
As far as the remix of The Truth, I am not totally against it. Obviously we, as fans of Kris, prefer his voice on the bridge. However, if they feel that there is a better chance that the song will be played if Pat Monahan's name and voice is attached then I can live with this and I will support the song. I believe that Kris's talent will not be denied. Look at his journey on Idol. He went from zero to hero and I have so much faith in him and I will always be a fan.

It seems you are trying to put an end in Kris Allen's career. Why the release of this song as a second single...it could be the fourth or so, not the second, and why the Hell is Pat Monohan singing?

OK, we get it you need to balance the pace for each single. LLWD as the 1st single is great because it's catchy and upbeat. Then you want some slow ballad for the next step, to show some variety on the artist?? I'm slowly accepting "The Truth" as the next single, but to irrationally features Pat Monahan just on that bridge (somewhat poorly done) screams desperate in my opinion. DESPERATE!!!!! And please, like Pat could attracts more sell??!!! What's for the 3rd single, "Is It Over"?
And to having this sort of post where you asked for fans opinion on the song, which most of us blatantly hate it and then ignored them!!! Well, JIVE better conjure up a great plan to market this song and make it a platinum hit. If it fails miserably though....someone should get fired for bringing this idea up.
