Kris Signs to 19 Recordings/Jive Records

It’s official! Kris has signed a record deal with 19 Recordings/Jive Records. Simon Fuller, Creator and Executive Producer of American Idol and Founder & CEO of 19 Entertainment said "Kris won the hearts of millions of Americans with his soulful voice, good looks and gracious demeanor. However it is his passion for music and love of performing that will make sure Kris stands the test of time and makes 'American Idol' proud.”
Kris said, "As exciting as the last few months have been, I'm really looking forward to what is next. I'm very grateful to be working with Simon Fuller and his team at 19 Entertainment, along with Barry Weiss and Jive Records on my debut album. Everyone's been asking me what it's going to sound like. It will be very similar to what you heard from me on the show -- definitely in the pop/rock genre. I can't wait to get started!"

I so can't wait. I am making a trip from my tiny town to a bigger town just to go get it! He is awesome. No one is like him. I don't think I have ever seen anyone who can sing and look like him. Hope he does good on selling his album which I am sure he will!

I am boycotting ALL 19 artists and music until they show some level of professionalism, fairness and committment to THE IDOL AMERICA CHOSE! This website is pathetic, why has it been 2 weeks without an update? There are tons of interviews-tv, radio and print plus news bites on his collaborative efforts for the album. Yet, 19 cant seem to get any of this out to his fans! REALLY? They dont seem to have a problem updating adam's site on a daily basis....krisallenation is run by volunteers running circles around these yayhoos!
A keen lesson the Idol results should have taught 19...American's are a thoughtful, independant and bright bunch who dont need simon cowell or simon fuller telling us what we like or what we think. In fact, we resent it! I think the margin of the victory (which I understand from insiders was substantial), should have taught you people something!
I think 19 needs to grasp the concept that there are alot of states between CA & NY....those two states do not define our tastes as a nation. We call those states the heartland for a reason...they are the HEART of the country-that's what Kris represents in his music-HEART! Frankly, I like Adam, but I will NOT buy his music unless this favoratism stops!
The fan numbers represented on this website are low because the value of the site is low & there are other options to get better information faster-simple marketing boys. Since Im sure you know this, the only conclusion to be drawn is that it's intentional-NOT COOL! Same thing with the Walmart Idol Album release...why are Kris' signature songs not on there, but Adam gets mad world- again....that's krap! Signed-Boycotting!

I have to "fess up" and admit that Adam had me hooked from Day One, but I also really love you and Allison -- guess that makes me a Kradison fan! The three of you have pretty much taken up permanent spots on my CD changer, and I'm looking forward to the release of your albums this fall -- I'll be buying them all! I love the warmth and the mellow quality of your voice, and your ability to put your own signature on a song. You are a unique and very talented artist, and a total class act. I am a 58 year old mom who has been a music glutton all my life -- and I listen to everything available - from Huey Lewis to Kanye to Andrew Bird, India Arie, Amy Winehouse, Lyle Lovett, Feist, Guster, Wilco.....and of course Bob Dylan. I have 15 thousand songs on Itunes! Literally hundreds of artists -- many of whom I adore. But lately, the artist I am TOTALLY IN LOVE WITH is this kid from Arkansas! Every single song Kris has performed, is an improvement on the original -- all of which were fantastic. And when you put together the studio versions of his chosen AI songs -- it turns out to be one of the best albums of all time.
I've said from early on that Kris does magic with his phrasing -- I think it's partially due to the fact that he has played a stringed instrument most of his life. The way he attacks each note -- the way he holds back on vibrato at key moments -- the little catch he gets in his throat. It's all part of his artistry -- Jamie Foxx said it best: he is not trying to win the throat Olympics. He doesn't need to because he is -- quite simply -- an artist.
I think every fan is hoping he is given lots of leeway on the debut album. If the producers let him do his own thing -- obviously within reason -- he will have megahits. If they try to over-process and shrink wrap him, everybody loses. Although with Kris' talents, he could sing any teeny bop song out there, and make it his own.
And by the way massive kudos to Kris just for breaking the stupid stereotype that just because you're from the south and active at church -- you're a dumbass, close-minded fool.
For that and many other reasons, I believe Kris will go really, really far. As will his great friend Adam -- love to him as well.

Kris is getting the shaft from 19. They are making it painfully obvious that because they wanted Adam to win, they will not promote Kris. If you want some proof, take a look at Adam's website. It is updated with mentions of the August 7 Good Morning America appearance (David Cook and Kris will also be performing) and the Teen Choice Awards nominations, complete with voting instructions (Kris is nominated as well, along with several other Idol alumni). Yet, no one has bothered to update Kris' site with any of this information. They are not at all interested in Kris' career and if they are, they have an extremely poor way of showing it.
Congratulations to Kris on signing with 19. However, I am wondering why there has been no new blog on Kris on this site for a week? When I google Kris' name, I get articles on Adam Lambert. I just read Michael Slezak's article suggesting 19 and Simon Fuller are giving Kris the shaft. Since Slezak raised the question, I too would point out that while Kris was singing at WalMart, Adam was doing a photo shoot for Rolling Stone, and preparing for his 20/20 tv appearance. It would appear that Kris is not being promoted in the manner that he deserves as the American Idol winner!!!!! I hope Mr. Fuller will answer Slezak's charge by doing better by Kris I so look forward to the day when Kris will no longer be compared to Adam.
Regardless, I love Kris' music and will continue to support him by buying his music!

I just know it will be Great!! I agree with others in that I hope he contacts Carrie as well as David Cook, Chris Daughtry and Kelly Clarkson. I would think they would all have some great insight and words of encouragement. I would love to see Kris at the CMT Music Awards on Tuesday night. He could perform with Keith Urban again or even just present with Carrie and that would be great exposure and super cool to see. I sure hope we see him on a magazine cover soon.

I heard Carrie Underwood say she gave you her personal number to call because she wishes she had someone to help her navigate the rough waters back when she won Idol. PLEASE call her and check in for advice or just to talk. Make that connection with her now while it's still fresh and new. If there are mistakes you can avoid because of something she can share then it's worth it. You can talk Idol to Idol and champion to champion. I think she would welcome it.
There are so many aspects of the process you face that she has already successfully gone through. She knows exactly what is coming your way. Nobody can know better than someone like her. I'm sure, as sweet as she is, she'll be more than happy to be there and steer you in the right direction. Stick to your creative guns and don't allow the big boys to roll over you 'cause they own you.
I, and your adoring fans, want you to succeed beyond all expectations. Let Carrie know you are open to her friendship and advice and I'm sure it will be an invaluable relationship.
