I was told to check out some clips from American Idol because of Adam Lambert, but once I did, I found myself much more drawn to the smooth singing style of Kris Allen. His ability to take a song and update it in new and gorgeous ways is truly a talent to be reckoned with and I am so excited to hear what he's going to be doing for his album.

I also love how well-rounded he is as a musician -- I love that he can accompany himself on piano or guitar and that he can also just sing a cappella if that is what's needed. He has such a clear, expressive voice and he can make me feel an emotional connection to every song that he sings. I've listened to his Brand New Shoes track leaks (of course!) and I'm so impressed by it. It's definitely the best pre-Idol cd, by far.

When I went back and watched this series of Idol, I was blown away by how Kris built up a fanbase and a following basically out of nowhere (not getting the backstory clips that many other contestants received in the audition and Hollywood weeks). His delicacy and skill at arrangement and presentation is something that I eagerly look forward to seeing develop and grow in the future.

Basically, Kris is kick-awesome and I'm thrilled to say that I'm a huge fan.
